I’m always looking for ways to connect some of the moms here on One Mother to Another, since that was my original goal in starting this blog. The other day I was remembering this great program we did at my church a few years back that I thought would work really well in the OMtA community, even though they’re all online relationships. It’s called Mystery Mama and here’s how it works: you get the name of another mom from this group and you send them little gifts, pick-me-up notes, etc. and you’ll get them in return from your Mystery Mama.
I will post a short questionnaire for participating mamas to fill out with some basic info about you: how many kids you have, your interests (outside of being a mom), things you like, etc. and then I will send it to the person randomly selected as your Mystery Mama. You’ll have to mail the notes, little gifts, etc. but they will be small things like a kind of chocolate they said they like, a book you think they might be into, a note that makes them feel better if they’re having a shit day…it’s just a fun way to connect with another mom and have a reason to look forward to going to the mailbox every now and then.
Some women who are not yet moms, who are moms with older kids or who live outside the US have asked to participate and the answer is a resounding YES! I’d love to get as much diversity in this group as possible, because I think it’s so much more fun and interesting than having a bunch of women who are all exactly the same.
If you’re interested in participating, you can join the Facebook group by clicking here. It is an open group, so please feel free to invite any women you know who might like to be part of Mystery Mama.
Hope you’ll join us!
